BNP Overview
B-type natriuretic peptide, also known as brain natriuretic peptide, is mainly synthesized and secreted by ventricular myocytes. BNP can promote the excretion of sodium and urine, and has a strong vasodilator effect. BNP is one of the most common biomarkers of heart failure.
